What is the Google Display Network?

Google Ads has two advertising networks: the Search Network and the Display Network. We’ve already talked about the Search Network in previous posts.

The Google Display Network (GDN) allows advertisers to reach potential customers while they browse their favorite websites or watch videos on YouTube, check their email in Gmail, or use mobile sites and apps.

What is the Google Display Network?

Ad Formats in the Google Display Network

Responsive ads — automatically adjust to fit the screen resolution and the available ad space on a website.
Image (banner) ads — support various image formats: static, animated, and even Flash (this makes your ads more engaging and dynamic).
Video ads — can be shown on YouTube or embedded across nearly any website in the Display Network.
App promotion ads — clicking on such an ad takes users directly to the app store page, where they can learn more and download the app.
Text ads — traditional text-based ads can also be used within the Display Network.

☝Today, Display Network targeting is among the most advanced available.
You’ve likely noticed that after searching for a certain product or service, related ads start appearing everywhere you go online.
That’s the kind of advertising that literally “follows you” across the internet.
